Deputy Business & Asset Management Director

About the role

The Deputy Business & Asset Management Director will join the senior leadership team of an International Oil Company operating in Iraq. Based in Basra, this executive role drives strategy, joint‑venture governance and commercial activities for a multi‑billion‑dollar investment portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement business and asset strategies for large‑scale energy projects.
• Lead JV governance, secure key approvals and manage partnership arrangements.
• Oversee commercial, legal and contractual frameworks and ensure value optimisation.
• Manage relationships with senior government officials, international partners and corporate headquarters.
• Guide corporate budgeting, long‑term planning and investment committee processes.
• Act as a strategic advisor to the Managing Director and senior management.
• Promote a strong HSE culture and integrate safety standards into strategic decisions.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in engineering; MBA or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 20 + years of experience in oil & gas, including senior leadership roles.
• Proven track record managing large‑scale investments and complex partnerships.
• Extensive experience in international environments and major energy projects.
• Fluent in English and Arabic.
