Aircraft Mechanic III – Crew Chief

About the role

Amentum is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic III – Crew Chief to provide maintenance support, management and leadership for T‑6A aircraft at Martyr BG Ali Flaih (Balad) Air Base, Iraq.

Key responsibilities

• Lead flight‑line, phase maintenance and Aircrew Life Support Systems activities, including aircraft jacking, lifting and towing.
• Develop flying schedules, plan major maintenance events and produce daily and monthly operational reports.
• Supervise inspections, interpret findings and ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Troubleshoot complex airframe, engine, flight‑control, pneudraulic, fuel and electrical/electronic systems.
• Maintain accurate parts inventory and perform Quality Verification Inspections as needed.

Required profile

• Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license.
• Minimum ten (10) years of aircraft maintenance experience on T‑6 Texan or similar fixed‑wing aircraft.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and experience providing on‑the‑job training to technicians.
• Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, Air Force technical publications and aircraft safety requirements.

Required skills

• FAA A&P certification.
• Maintenance and inspection of T‑6A aircraft.
• Use of test equipment for airframe, engine, flight‑control, pneudraulic and electrical systems.
• Aircraft jacking, lifting, towing and Quality Verification Inspection (QVI) procedures.
