Crew Chief / Aircraft Mechanic III – T-6A Support

About the role

Amentum is seeking an experienced Crew Chief/Mechanic III to lead aircraft maintenance for T-6A operations at Martyr BG Ali Flaih (Balad) Air Base, Iraq. The role combines hands‑on technical work with supervision, planning, and coordination with operational customers.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑the‑job training (OJT) to technicians and supervise daily flight‑line, phase‑maintenance, and Aircrew Life Support System activities.
• Develop flying schedules, plan major maintenance events, and produce daily/monthly operational reports.
• Diagnose and resolve complex airframe, engine, flight‑control, pneudraulic, fuel, and electrical/electronic system issues.
• Plan and schedule aircraft utilization, coordinate maintenance with customers, and maintain accurate parts inventory.
• Supervise aircraft jacking, lifting, towing, inspections, and Quality Verification Inspections (QVI).
• Review maintenance forms, aircraft records, and automated data systems to ensure complete documentation.

Required profile

• Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum eight (8) years of aircraft maintenance experience on T‑6 Texan or similar fixed‑wing aircraft.
• Demonstrated leadership ability, attention to detail, and strong judgment.
• Broad knowledge of FAA regulations, Air Force technical publications, and maintenance categories.
