Crew Chief – Aircraft Mechanic III (T-6A)

About the role

Amentum is looking for an experienced Crew Chief (Aircraft Mechanic III) to lead maintenance operations for T-6A aircraft at Martyr BG Ali Flaih (Balad) Air Base, Iraq. The role combines hands‑on technical work with supervision, planning, and coordination with operational customers.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day aircraft maintenance support, including phase maintenance, flightline tasks, and Aircrew Life Support Systems.
• Lead and mentor a team of technicians, delivering on‑the‑job training (OJT) and ensuring compliance with technical orders.
• Develop and manage flying schedules, plan major maintenance events, and produce daily/monthly operational reports.
• Supervise aircraft jacking, lifting, towing, inspections, and quality verification inspections (QVI).
• Maintain accurate parts inventory, control workflow, and coordinate with customers on aircraft utilization.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex airframe, engine, flight‑control, pneumatic, fuel, and electrical/electronic system issues.

Required profile

• Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license.
• Minimum 10 years of aircraft maintenance experience on T‑6 Texan or similar fixed‑wing aircraft.
• Proven experience supervising maintenance crews and conducting inspections.
• Ability to interpret technical orders, diagrams, and maintenance data systems.
