Child Protection Policy & Advocacy Technical Advisor

About the role

The Child Protection Policy & Advocacy Technical Advisor will provide expert leadership for SEED’s policy and advocacy initiatives aimed at strengthening child protection systems in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The role involves identifying gaps, supporting legislative reforms, and enhancing the capacity of governmental and non‑governmental actors to protect children’s rights.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis of child protection policies, laws, and practices in KRI, identifying gaps and opportunities for reform.
• Engage with government counterparts, NGOs, and other stakeholders to design and implement advocacy, technical assistance, and capacity‑building initiatives.
• Lead or participate in coordination mechanisms, working groups, and workshops to promote cross‑organizational learning and policy uptake.
• Develop and disseminate policy briefs, reports, guidelines, and training materials; prepare presentations and talking points for high‑level engagements.
• Support program design, monitoring, and evaluation to ensure impact‑oriented child protection interventions.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in social work, child protection, law, human rights, public policy, or a related field.
• Minimum five years of international development or humanitarian experience in child protection, including senior technical or programmatic roles.
• Proven experience working with government actors to strengthen child protection systems and influence policy reform.
• Demonstrated expertise in rights‑based, child‑centered approaches and familiarity with relevant coordination mechanisms.
• Strong commitment to human rights and protecting children’s rights.
