Chief Financial Officer (CFO) - Iraq

About the role

An experienced Chief Financial Officer is sought to lead the finance department in Iraq. The CFO acts as a strategic financial partner to the CEO, managing daily financial operations, liquidity and budgets while ensuring compliance with local requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily financial operations, including accounting, payments, collections, payroll and bank accounts.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, annual budgets and cash flow forecasts.
• Manage banking relationships and financial transfers between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, monitoring foreign exchange risk on the Iraqi Dinar.
• Track project revenues, costs, profitability and invoices, and follow up on receivables.
• Ensure compliance with Iraqi accounting, tax and reporting requirements, coordinating with external auditors, tax advisors and authorities.
• Establish financial policies, authorities and controls, and review major contracts for financial risk.
• Advise the CEO and the parent company on financial performance, risks and funding needs.
• Recruit, supervise and develop the local finance team.

Required profile

• 10+ years of professional experience in finance and accounting, with at least 5 years in a financial leadership role.
• Proven hands-on experience managing financial operations in Iraq, with strong knowledge of Iraqi tax, accounting and regulatory requirements.
• Experience reporting to a parent company or working within a group of companies.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Fluent in Arabic and English, spoken and written.
• Preferred: CPA, ACCA or CMA certification; previous experience in technology companies or project-based businesses.
