Accountant Specialist – Oil & Gas Projects

About the role

KAR OG Alan Sasan DMCC is looking for an experienced Accountant Specialist to join its Finance Department in Erbil. The role sits within the management accounting function, supporting oil and gas projects, and reports to the Finance Controller. It is a full-time position working Sunday to Thursday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Key responsibilities

• Review general ledger, account coding, trial balance, cash and bank accounts, fixed assets, inventories, cost per well, AP and expenses, and ensure accuracy and completeness of AP, GL, cost accounting, expense recognition, taxes and payroll.
• Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, the annual budget and variance reports.
• Record bank and cash transactions on time, prepare daily cash/bank balances against the GL and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Draft internal and external financial reports and present key findings to senior management.
• Provide data and inputs to external auditors, government auditors, tax advisors, the Iraqi auditor and accountant and regulatory bodies, and meet audit, tax and statutory reporting deadlines.
• Analyse intercompany transactions and ensure proper eliminations and reconciliations between group companies.
• Report cash flow positions and forecast cash flow needs, and perform due diligence on accounting documents, supplier bank accounts and ultimate beneficiaries of payments.
• Support ad hoc internal and external requests and close annual trial balances accurately.
