Chief Accountant – Pharmaceutical Industry

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Chief Accountant to lead all accounting and financial operations for a pharmaceutical company in Erbil. The role ensures accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective financial controls while supporting internal teams and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations and general ledger.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports.
• Monitor cash flow, budgeting and financial forecasting.
• Ensure compliance with Iraqi tax laws, financial regulations and company policies; handle tax calculations, filings and audits.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation for all transactions.
• Oversee inventory accounting and cost control for pharmaceutical operations and warehousing.
• Coordinate with external auditors, banks and regulatory authorities.
• Develop and improve accounting procedures, internal controls and financial systems.
• Provide financial analysis to support strategic decision‑making.
• Supervise and guide the accounting team to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of accounting experience, preferably in pharmaceutical, healthcare or FMCG sectors.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, taxation and financial reporting standards.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Fluency in English; Kurdish or Arabic is an advantage.

• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
