Cards & Payments Systems Senior Associate

About the role

The National Bank of Iraq is seeking a proactive Cards & Payments Systems Senior Associate to join its IT team in Baghdad. The role focuses on supporting and maintaining banking applications that handle card issuance, payment processing, and transaction monitoring, ensuring continuous availability and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and support the operation of cards and payments systems 24/7, ensuring stability and performance.
• Investigate and resolve failed or pending transactions and transfers.
• Perform routine system checks, monitoring, and maintenance activities.
• Handle incidents and service requests from branches and internal departments within defined SLAs.
• Coordinate with development, infrastructure, cybersecurity teams, and external vendors.
• Participate in projects related to cards, payments, and AML systems.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Document issues and resolutions in ticketing systems such as Jira.
• Support UAT testing for system updates and new services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience, including at least 1 year in a similar banking IT role.
• Familiarity with various operating systems.
• Experience with banking systems, transaction processing, or payments environments is preferred.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ISO 20022 standard.
• Knowledge of ISO 8583 standard.
• Experience using Jira for issue tracking.
