Socioeconomic Strategic Consultant

About the role

The Socioeconomic Strategic Consultant will support UN Country Team (UNCT) and Resident Coordinator (RC) priorities in Iraq by providing timely analysis, coordination, and synthesis of socioeconomic developments. The role focuses on translating emerging fiscal, economic, and regional trends into actionable insights for UN planning and implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare an inception note and workplan within the first week, outlining methodology, priority areas, coordination approach, and timeline.
• Consolidate and synthesize updated socioeconomic and operational inputs from UN entities, producing concise update notes and synthesis materials.
• Support the preparation and documentation of up to two inter‑agency coordination discussions, summarising observations, risks, and follow‑up points.
• Provide analytical follow‑up on immediate priority areas identified in the joint UNESCWA‑UNCT paper, including stabilization of liquidity, fiscal sustainability, and service continuity.
• Deliver a final summary report covering analytical findings, trends, risks, and recommendations for ongoing UNCT follow‑up.
