Senior Well Engineer

About the role

The Senior Well Engineer will lead well proposal development, design basis and operation planning for projects in Iraq. The role includes day‑to‑day surveillance of operations, cost control and risk assessment to ensure technical integrity and successful execution.

Key responsibilities

• Develop well proposals, Basis of Design and detailed operation plans.
• Prepare programs, equipment lists and identify long‑lead items.
• Create and manage Approvals for Expenditure (AFE) and control operational costs.
• Conduct day‑to‑day surveillance of operations and perform engineering studies to solve recurring problems.
• Prepare End‑of‑Well reports and contribute to knowledge management.
• Manage all aspects of rig operations including HS&E, well planning, construction, resourcing, performance management and logistics.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team, prioritize activities and ensure delivery against approved plans and timescales.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related STEM field.
• Minimum 4 years of well services/intervention experience; preferred 10 years in oil & gas operations.
• Supervisory experience and exposure to multi‑discipline operations.
• Ability to travel to Iraq for up to 28 days on‑site.
• Well Control Certificate.
