Area Authority (AAD) – Planning, Risk Assessment & Permit Management

About the role

The Area Authority (AAD) is responsible for ensuring safe execution of work activities within the assigned area. You will work closely with the Performing Authority (PA) to identify hazards, verify risk assessments, and control energy isolation before work commences.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed discussions with the PA during planning to confirm hazard identification and ALARP risk assessments.
• Visit the worksite to prepare and verify Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HITRA) documents.
• Authorize permits, lead toolbox talks, and monitor work during the first hour of each shift.
• Approve and oversee energy isolation designs, confirm isolation before task start, and demonstrate isolation to the PA.
• Validate electrical certificates, risk assessments, and coordinate with station SAEP for electrical work.
• Close permits, ensure site cleanliness, and remove isolation after work completion.
• Perform shift handovers, coordinate SIMOPS, and attend daily permit meetings.
• Capture lessons learned and conduct self‑verification audits for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in safety permit issuance and risk assessment within an industrial or construction environment.
• Strong knowledge of energy isolation, hot‑work and confined‑space procedures.
• Ability to liaise effectively with multiple stakeholders and conduct thorough site inspections.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe, tidy worksite.
