Visiting Faculty in International Relations

About the role

AUIB is seeking a dynamic Open Rank Faculty member (visiting) in International Relations to teach undergraduate courses, develop curriculum, mentor students, and engage in scholarly or applied professional work within a rapidly evolving regional context.

Key responsibilities

• Teach core and elective undergraduate courses in International Relations and/or History, including IR Theory, Security and Diplomacy, International Law, and International Political Economy.
• Conduct scholarly or applied research and contribute to the department’s intellectual life appropriate to rank.
• Supervise student independent research, senior theses, and internship projects.
• Participate in curriculum development, syllabus review, and outcomes‑based assessment aligned with accreditation standards.
• Engage in departmental service such as faculty meetings, advising, committee work, and institutional initiatives.
• Integrate Middle‑East regional dynamics into classroom discussions and course content.
• Participate in faculty development activities and institutional review processes.

Required profile

• Substantive knowledge in one or more International Relations subfields (security, foreign policy, law, organizations, regional politics) or expertise in modern Middle‑East history.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Experience living or working internationally, with familiarity with the Middle East or post‑conflict settings valued.
• Ability to mentor undergraduate research and foster an inclusive learning environment.
