Transportation Lead (Southwest Asia)

About the role

The Transportation Lead provides end‑to‑end movement control and multimodal distribution support across the USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility. This senior position integrates air coordination, container management, convoy operations, and hazardous material documentation to ensure seamless logistics for the 1st Theater Sustainment Command.

Key responsibilities

• Lead CRSP teams covering line haul, air coordination, container processing, customs clearance, and transportation asset support.
• Validate and process DD Forms, TAC codes, DODAACs, and shipment priorities for all inbound and outbound cargo.
• Coordinate pre‑Joint and Joint inspections, prepare sensitive cargo documentation, and ensure compliance with DTR 4500.9‑R Part II.
• Operate material handling equipment (4K–100K forklifts, container handlers) and compute balance/weight for rolling stock.
• Maintain historical cargo movement data, manage LIS/GCSS‑Army data, and oversee purchasing, warehousing, and production control.
• Lead convoy operations, conduct safety briefings, and ensure host‑nation vehicle compliance.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship with active Secret clearance (or ability to obtain).
• Minimum 9 years of logistics, transportation, or supply‑chain experience in a military or defense environment.
• Proven leadership of multi‑disciplinary logistics teams.
• Experience with strategic and tactical movement of personnel, cargo, and equipment across air, land, and sea.

Required skills

• Proficiency with IBS‑CMM, CMOS, and RFID systems.
• Knowledge of DTR 4500.9‑R Part II compliance.
• Operation of material handling equipment (MHE) such as forklifts and container handlers.
• Familiarity with GCSS‑Army and logistics information systems (LIS) data management.
