Tax Supervisor

About the role

The Tax Supervisor will ensure full compliance with corporate income tax, employment tax, withholding tax, VAT and other statutory tax requirements for Weatherford’s operations in North and South Iraq. The role supports business operations, minimises tax risks and safeguards the company’s financial and regulatory interests.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure timely and accurate compliance with corporate income tax, VAT, WHT, payroll tax and other statutory obligations.
• Coordinate preparation, review and filing of tax returns, calculations, statutory reports and tax accounting in collaboration with external advisors and internal finance teams.
• Manage tax audits, inquiries, litigation and relationships with Iraqi tax authorities to obtain clearances.
• Oversee withholding tax processes, including customer follow‑up for certificates and monitoring inter‑company transactions.
• Provide tax guidance to commercial, tendering, project, finance, HR, payroll and operational teams, identifying risks and supporting contract execution.
• Identify and implement tax planning opportunities, support cash repatriation, ensure transfer‑pricing compliance and recommend process improvements.
• Review payroll tax calculations, statutory financial statements, tax reconciliations and US GAAP tax reporting.
• Collaborate with external consultants and cross‑functional stakeholders to educate the business on tax legislation updates and strengthen tax governance.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of Iraqi corporate income tax, withholding tax, employment tax and VAT.
• Experience managing tax audits, authority relationships and tax dispute resolution.
• Understanding of tax accounting and US GAAP reporting requirements.
• Knowledge of transfer pricing principles and cross‑border taxation.
• Analytical, problem‑solving and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across multiple functions.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
