Supply Chain Senior Specialist – Groceries

About the role

We are seeking a senior supply‑chain professional to lead the grocery business of Baly, Iraq’s leading super‑app. The role will own demand‑and‑supply planning, inventory control and end‑to‑end replenishment across our distribution centres and stores, ensuring product availability while minimising excess stock and cost.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Category, Commercial, Data and Store Operations teams to translate forecasts, promotions and seasonality into inventory and replenishment plans.
• Monitor product availability and proactively address risks of stock‑outs, excess inventory and supply disruptions.
• Manage supplier delivery schedules, inbound appointments, receiving standards and service levels.
• Work with categories and suppliers to improve fill rates, delivery reliability, lead times and overall product availability.
• Align inbound capacity with distribution‑centre (DC) capacity and inventory requirements.
• Handle supplier escalations related to shortages, delays, quality issues or non‑compliance.
• Oversee inventory health across DCs and stores, including stock cover, excess, slow‑moving items, ageing, expiry risk, shrinkage and waste.
• Implement inventory‑control processes such as cycle counts, stock adjustments, reconciliations, returns and write‑offs.
• Drive actions to reduce stock‑outs while limiting working‑capital exposure.
• Manage the full DC‑to‑store replenishment cycle: order generation, allocation, transfer scheduling, dispatch and delivery.
• Ensure cold‑chain, food‑safety, temperature monitoring, FIFO/FEFO, expiry management and proper product handling.
• Monitor supply‑chain and DC operating costs, identify efficiency opportunities and support budgeting with Finance.
• Lead, coach and develop supply‑chain and warehouse teams.
• Partner with Technology and Product teams to enhance WMS, inventory‑management and reporting systems.

Required profile

• Several years of experience in FMCG, retail, grocery, distribution or warehouse operations.
• Proven expertise in inventory planning, replenishment and supply‑chain optimisation.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to use data and dashboards to identify bottlenecks.
• Leadership experience – capable of coaching and developing teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management across categories, suppliers and internal functions.

Required skills

• Warehouse Management System (WMS) proficiency.
• Inventory management software.
• Data analysis and reporting tools (dashboards, Excel or similar).
