Social Media & Community Manager – Remote (Iraq)

About the role

We are seeking a Social Media & Community Manager to lead the online presence of an independent news agency covering Iraqi affairs. Working remotely, you will shape the social media strategy, grow the audience, and foster community engagement across multiple platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a social media strategy aligned with marketing objectives and project priorities.
• Manage daily publishing, content scheduling, and platform updates.
• Monitor audience behavior, conduct segmentation, and produce competitive reviews.
• Design and run campaigns to increase reach and engagement.
• Create daily posts from editorial content while ensuring brand consistency and quality control.
• Archive all published material on shared drives and the website.
• Build and nurture loyal follower communities, respond to audience inquiries promptly, and stimulate interaction.
• Track key performance indicators, document results, and prepare analytics reports.

Required profile

• Fluent in Arabic with deep knowledge of Iraq’s socio‑political and cultural context.
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing social media accounts for news agencies or within journalism.
• Strong belief in the value of independent journalism.
• Ability to collaborate closely with editorial, production, and management teams.
