About the role
Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) is seeking a proactive freelance Project Coordinator to support on‑the‑ground activities in Baghdad, facilitate cross‑border editorial collaborations across the MENA region, and manage workshops and mentorship cohorts for Iraqi media professionals.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate open calls for media outlets, organise online matchmaking sessions and maintain communication channels for MENA network participants.
- Plan and execute full logistical arrangements for in‑person training workshops, mid‑point reviews and closing conferences in Baghdad, including venue, equipment, catering and secure transport.
- Collect, verify and organise all field financial records – attendance sheets, vendor invoices, expense receipts, proof of payments and signed contracts – and ensure timely submission to MiCT HQ.
- Report daily to the Project Manager and MiCT HQ on activity progress, participant status, operational challenges and workshop outcomes.
- Manage journalist recruitment, application intake, contract collection and verification of story publication.
- Assist mentors with security protocol reviews, maintain discreet communication channels and ensure ethical source protection.
- Gather baseline data, pre/post‑workshop evaluations and media metrics for M&E reporting.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in project coordination, preferably within media or journalism projects.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to handle logistics and financial documentation.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with regional partners and MiCT headquarters.
- Awareness of editorial safety and security protocols in challenging contexts.
