About the role
The Social Behavior Change Officer will join UNICEF’s National UN Volunteer programme in Iraq, providing technical and programmatic support for Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) initiatives across development and humanitarian contexts. The role focuses on evidence‑based design, implementation, monitoring and reporting of SBC activities, while fostering community engagement and capacity building.
Key responsibilities
- Collect, analyse and synthesize data, research and evidence to inform SBC programme design, monitoring and evaluation.
- Support data collection, tracking, reporting and the development of community feedback mechanisms.
- Contribute to research tools, assessments, terms of reference and evidence‑generation processes.
- Assist in designing, implementing and monitoring evidence‑based SBC interventions and community engagement activities.
- Promote integration of SBC approaches across sectoral programmes and humanitarian responses.
- Support resource mobilisation, donor reporting, proposal development, budgeting and grants management.
- Strengthen partnerships with government institutions, NGOs, community groups and humanitarian actors.
- Facilitate SBC capacity assessments, training activities and development of learning resources for staff and partners.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in social and behavioural sciences, sociology, anthropology, psychology, communication for development or a related field.
- Minimum three years of professional experience in social development, SBC, communication for development or public advocacy.
- Familiarity with SBC approaches, community engagement methodologies and evidence‑based programming.
- Experience with UN agencies or international organisations is an asset.
- Strong analytical, drafting and reporting abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills in multicultural environments.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data management tools.
