Site Civil & Structural Supervisor

About the role

Fisher HR is recruiting a Site Civil & Structural Supervisor for a full-time position in Basrah, Iraq. The role sits within the CPF-2 Site Construction team and involves supervising civil and structural works carried out by site contractors, ensuring compliance with technical, safety and environmental requirements, and keeping the construction schedule on track.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in reviewing and approving site construction procedures and method statements, and recommend improvements to constructability.
• Supervise and control civil and structural activities performed by the site contractors.
• Check the fitness of contractor equipment (reporting HSE issues) and the adequacy of contractor personnel for each supervised activity.
• Ensure contractors comply with technical and safety/environmental contract requirements, while maintaining good relationships and enforcing procedures when needed.
• Report quality control issues to the site Quality team and monitor and track civil and structural progress, reporting issues to the construction and project support teams.
• Help resolve short-term coordination issues, feed inputs to the field engineering group, and assist in reviewing construction sequences and recovery plans.
• Take part in meetings with contractors and affiliate departments, promote a positive safety culture, and act as an example in HSE matters.
• Follow the project code of conduct, keep strict confidentiality, and carry out any other duties required.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering.
• At least 10 years of experience in oil and gas or heavy industry, on large-scale onshore (or onshore yard) projects, in contract, engineering and construction.
• Proven record of several successful assignments in similar site positions.
• Broad civil and structural technical experience across major surface facilities projects.
• Knowledge of monitoring large oil and gas EPC contractors at site.
• Ability to represent the company in discussions with contractors and stakeholders, and to work in a multi-cultural, international environment.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work under pressure.
• Fluent English (absolutely mandatory).
