Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant will lead daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate recording, compliance with standards, and timely financial reporting. This position provides critical financial insights to support management decision‑making and collaborates closely with internal and external audit teams.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all daily accounting transactions and ensure proper recording in line with accounting standards.
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, prepare journal entries, and correct discrepancies.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end closing processes to deliver accurate financial statements.
• Prepare management reports, supporting schedules, and financial statements.
• Monitor accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely settlements.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, financial regulations, and audit requirements.
• Coordinate with external auditors and supply required documentation.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to improve accuracy and reduce risk.
• Support finance process‑improvement initiatives and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in accounting or finance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and internal controls.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
• Fluency in English and Kurdish; Arabic is a plus.
