About the role
Wood is seeking an experienced Safety Systems Engineer to join its Iraq Business Unit. The role focuses on the safe design, implementation, and maintenance of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) for a major on‑shore brownfield project in Basra. This is a full‑time, on‑site position with occasional travel.
Key responsibilities
- Execute Functional Safety Lifecycle activities for the project.
- Perform SIL assessments and validation of safety systems.
- Develop, program, and test Safety Instrumented Systems.
- Prepare and maintain safety documentation and conduct audits.
Required profile
- Proven experience as a Safety Systems Engineer in oil & gas or related industries.
- Willingness to work full‑time on‑site in Basra with travel as needed.

- Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) design and programming
- Functional Safety Lifecycle knowledge
