Remote Site Paramedic – Oil & Gas

About the role

Zello is seeking two experienced expatriate paramedics to provide single‑position medical cover for a major international energy operator at an oilfield site in Basra Governorate, Iraq. Working on a 28 days on / 28 days off rotation, you will be the sole on‑site clinician supporting up to 40 personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Provide rapid emergency response, resuscitation, stabilisation and treatment for acute illness and injury.
• Perform limited emergency procedures such as chest drain insertion, advanced airway management, vascular access and catastrophic haemorrhage control.
• Deliver high‑dependency care for up to 24 hours pending medical evacuation, including ventilated patients, continuous monitoring and drug/fluid therapy.
• Manage basic primary care and occupational health support, including OSHA‑aligned first aid.
• Maintain the medical facility, equipment, medicines (including controlled drugs and cold chain) and stock, and keep accurate electronic medical records.

Required profile

• Current registration as a paramedic in the UK, South Africa, Australia, Canada or the USA.
• At least 5 years of recent experience in emergency department, ICU, trauma, pre‑hospital or remote/offshore medicine.
• Current ACLS and ATLS (or recognised equivalents such as PHTLS or ITLS at advanced level).
• Eligibility to obtain an Iraq visa and work authorisation, and ability to pass background and medical checks.
• Previous oil and gas, defence or austere environment deployment is highly desirable.

Required skills

• IV and central access and fluid management.
• Advanced airway management, intubation and emergency surgical airway.
• Chest decompression and thoracic drain insertion.
• 12‑lead ECG interpretation and acute coronary syndrome management.
• Defibrillation, cardioversion and pacing.
• Management of penetrating chest/abdominal wounds, severe trauma, burns and infectious diseases.
