Protection Officer – Legal (4 positions)

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking four Protection Officers (Legal) to deliver legal aid services to vulnerable families, IDPs, returnees and host communities in Diyala, Baqubah. Working under the Protection Team Leader, you will provide information, counselling, representation and documentation support to beneficiaries.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal information, counselling and representation to individuals of all ages, genders and abilities.
• Conduct group awareness sessions and targeted legal protection discussions.
• Issue legal documentation such as IDs and birth certificates through the CAD system.
• Carry out field visits to assess protection needs, identify vulnerable persons and map local service providers.
• Refer extremely vulnerable individuals and those with specific protection needs according to DRC criteria.
• Maintain accurate case files and update legal trackers and databases in line with DRC SOPs.
• Stay informed on legal procedures and policy developments, updating internal guidelines as required.
• Support data analysis of legal case information while ensuring confidentiality.

Required profile

• Experience delivering legal aid or protection services in humanitarian contexts.
• Ability to work with diverse populations, including people with disabilities.
• Strong organisational skills for case management and data handling.
• Capacity to conduct field visits and liaise with local NGOs, INGOs and community institutions.
