Projects Development Engineer

About the role

Wood is seeking a Projects Development Engineer to support the Opportunity & New Technology Development Section in Basra, Iraq. The role focuses on identifying, evaluating and maturing brownfield modification and production enhancement opportunities across surface facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the projects register, coordinate prioritisation and work with leadership to evaluate alternatives.
• Develop cost and schedule estimates, business justification and technical basis for opportunities.
• Lead opportunity development from concept screening through gated stages, including stakeholder coordination and hand‑over to execution teams.
• Monitor approvals, support execution basis and, when required, coordinate third‑party engineering support.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Oil & Gas Surface Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in surface engineering, project development or brownfield modification, plus at least 10 years overall work experience.
• Strong knowledge of oil‑field surface facilities, oil processing and water treatment systems.
• Excellent communication skills in English and proven teamwork, organisational and planning abilities.

• Microsoft Office suite proficiency.

• Understanding of production facilities and cost‑benefit assessment.
