Process Engineer – Onsite

About the role

KBR is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join its on‑site team in Basra, Iraq. The role will own the technical integrity of process engineering scopes across all project phases for oil and gas field developments, supporting both upstream and downstream operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of process simulations and optimization studies for conceptual, FEED and detailed design projects.
• Develop and champion Process Flow Schemes, heat and mass balances, equipment sizing and layout for costing and option selection.
• Produce detailed deliverables such as Process Flow Diagrams, P&IDs, equipment datasheets and study reports, ensuring compliance with international standards.
• Review third‑party design work, participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and other hazard analyses, and drive issue resolution.
• Act as the primary technical interface with clients, clearly communicating complex concepts and managing expectations.
• Mentor and develop Iraqi national staff through structured on‑the‑job training and performance feedback.
• Ensure adherence to quality and safety systems, leading QA/QC practices within the process discipline.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver projects on time, safely and efficiently.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary process engineering teams on oil and gas projects.
• Strong ability to communicate technical information to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Commitment to mentoring and developing local engineering talent.
