Open Rank Faculty in Writing and Composition

About the role

AUIB is seeking an Open Rank Faculty member to lead its Writing and Composition program. The position involves teaching first‑year and upper‑level courses, shaping curriculum, mentoring diverse student writers, and contributing to departmental service.

Key responsibilities

• Teach academic and expository writing courses, as well as related liberal‑arts classes such as first‑year seminars, public speaking, and humanities electives.
• Participate in departmental meetings and stay current with university policies.
• Assist in developing and updating course materials and curricula.
• Uphold university teaching guidelines, ethical standards, and foster an inclusive learning environment.
• Engage in scholarly research, publish regularly, and present findings.
• Provide departmental service including advising, registration support, and professional‑development activities.

Required profile

• Familiarity with the American higher‑education system and its processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong time‑management, collaboration, and ability to engage multilingual students.
• Capability to simplify complex ideas, give constructive feedback, and promote active learning.
