Open Rank Faculty – Ethics & Philosophy

About the role

AUIB is seeking an Open Rank Faculty member to teach and develop courses in ethics and philosophy. The position is remote and focuses on fostering critical inquiry and moral reasoning across a diverse student body.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Introduction to Ethics and other philosophy courses with an emphasis on moral reasoning.
• Develop and deliver new courses such as critical thinking, modern political thought, and Introduction to Humanities.
• Participate regularly in departmental meetings and stay informed about policies.
• Assist in creating and updating course materials and curricula.
• Follow university teaching guidelines, regulations, and policies.
• Maintain a professional, inclusive, and ethical learning environment.
• Engage in research projects, publish regularly, and contribute to scholarly discourse.
• Provide departmental service including advising, registration support, seminars, and professional development activities.

Required profile

• Familiarity with the structure and processes of the American higher‑education system.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Effective time‑management and collaborative abilities.
• Proven skill in engaging and supervising students.
• Capability to simplify complex ideas and foster active learning.
• PhD (preferred) or M.A./Ph.D. in Philosophy, Ethics, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of one year of teaching experience.
• Experience working in the Middle East or participation in regional study‑abroad programs.
• Adaptable, culturally aware, and committed to student success in an international setting.
