Network Engineer – Wireless & Microwave Backhaul

About the role

Qi Card is seeking a Network Engineer to design, deploy, and optimise the wired, wireless and microwave backhaul infrastructure that powers its payment network. You will own link planning, performance monitoring and troubleshooting across multiple sites in Baghdad and beyond.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement end‑to‑end network and wireless backhaul solutions, including detailed design, link planning and rollout strategy.
• Perform microwave link engineering – link‑budget calculations, path analysis, frequency planning and performance optimisation on platforms such as Aviat, Mimosa, SIAE and Ubiquiti.
• Configure, maintain and troubleshoot routers, switches and wireless access points in LAN/WAN environments.
• Prepare Bills of Quantities, technical specifications, topology diagrams and hand‑over documentation.
• Coordinate CMC licensing and regulatory compliance for microwave links.
• Conduct site surveys, capacity planning, equipment selection and technical validation.
• Evaluate networking hardware, software and vendors based on performance, scalability, reliability and cost.
• Plan and support deployment, upgrades and optimisation with minimal service disruption.
• Partner with Network Operations, Field Engineering and Project Management to resolve issues and keep projects on track.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of hands‑on network engineering experience, preferably with wireless backhaul or telecom infrastructure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, IT or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Proven experience configuring routers and switches in multi‑vendor environments.
• Working knowledge of microwave/wireless link engineering, including link budgets, path/frequency planning and interference analysis.
• Strong LAN/WAN troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills.
• Ability to produce professional BoQs, technical specs and network documentation.
