Medical Director – Emergency, Internal or Family Medicine (Iraq)

About the role

Cherokee Federal is seeking a Medical Director to lead emergency, internal or family medicine services for U.S. Government medical operations in Iraq. The position is based at the Diplomatic Support Hospital in Baghdad or Erbil and requires 24/7 on‑call coverage for emergency care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide medical oversight for the task order and ensure quality of care across facilities.
• Deliver primary, urgent and initial emergency care to Department of State personnel and eligible patients.
• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions, perform health promotion, disease prevention, counseling, vaccinations and STD testing.
• Stabilize patients and coordinate transfer or medical evacuation as needed.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, obtain consultations and referrals.
• Maintain 24/7 availability for emergency care and travel between supported sites when required.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship with an active U.S. passport.
• Ability to obtain or hold a Secret clearance.
• Minimum three years of experience as a physician.
• Board certification in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine.
• Willingness to work more than 10 hours per shift, including overtime, holidays and weekends.
