Optometrist

About the role

The Optometrist will join AlYamama Eye Center in Baghdad to deliver comprehensive eye examinations and support the ophthalmology team. This full‑time, on‑site position focuses on accurate vision assessment, patient education, and seamless clinical workflow.

Key responsibilities

• Perform visual acuity, refraction, binocular vision, and ocular health examinations.
• Prescribe and adjust eyeglasses and contact lenses, and counsel patients on vision correction options.
• Identify conditions requiring medical or surgical referral and coordinate with ophthalmologists.
• Utilize modern diagnostic equipment for specialized tests and maintain accurate patient records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Optometry or Vision Science.
• Valid licensure/registration to practice in Iraq.
• Strong clinical skills in refraction, contact lens fitting, low‑vision assessment, and basic ocular health evaluation.
• Effective communication and ability to work within a multidisciplinary eye‑care team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with autorefractors, slit lamps, keratometers, tonometers, OCT and visual field devices.
• Accurate interpretation of clinical findings.
