HR Director

About the role

The HR Director will lead the people function for a 450‑plus employee organisation, reporting to the Chief Human Capital Officer. The role drives an ongoing transformation covering structure, talent acquisition, performance, reward and new HR systems across Baghdad, Basra and Wasit.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the HR function’s structure, standards and results, overseeing a specialist team in Baghdad and HR staff in other cities.
• Deliver the transformation agenda, including operating model design, grading and pay‑scale rollout, performance‑cycle implementation and adoption of an in‑house HR platform.
• Lead manpower planning with division heads to anticipate needs before they become urgent requests.
• Ensure the integrity of the employee master data and manage the monthly HR close.
• Handle employee‑relations escalations and guarantee fair application of performance and reward policies.
• Build and sustain strong relationships between HR and each division head.

Required profile

• Eight or more years of experience leading an HR function, with responsibility for at least 300 employees.
• Successful end‑to‑end delivery of an HR transformation (structure, compensation or systems).
• Deep knowledge of performance and reward design, beyond routine administration.
• Working knowledge of Iraqi labour law and statutory practices.
• Professional fluency in both Arabic and English.
• A builder’s temperament – capable of rebuilding the function rather than merely maintaining it.
