Head of Operations – Airport Ground Handling

About the role

dnata is seeking a senior leader to direct all ground handling functions at its Erbil hub. The Head of Operations will ensure safe, efficient aircraft turnaround while delivering high‑quality service to airlines and passengers.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee Ramp Operations, Customer Services, Technical Services and Support Services to guarantee safe, on‑time aircraft turnaround.
• Lead, mentor and manage duty managers and leadership teams, setting performance objectives and providing coaching.
• Define and implement departmental strategies, policies and procedures to meet regulatory and SLA requirements.
• Drive operational excellence by optimizing cost, resources and productivity while maintaining service levels.
• Build and maintain relationships with airport authorities, airline partners and other stakeholders.
• Lead improvement projects on safety, efficiency and service enhancement within scope, budget and timeline.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of airport operations experience, including 6 years in a managerial role.
• Extensive knowledge of ground handling, technical services and international aviation standards.
• Proven ability to manage large teams and foster a safety‑first culture.
• Experience partnering with HR on performance management, talent development and succession planning.
