Finance and Operations Officer – South Iraq

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Finance and Operations Officer to support Tearfund’s programmes in South Iraq. Based in Basra, the officer will work under the Iraq Finance Manager, providing finance, operational, administrative and coordination support to humanitarian projects in a complex environment.
Key responsibilities
- Manage accounting functions including cashbooks, petty cash, payroll and treasury operations.
- Oversee procurement and logistics processes, ensuring compliance with organisational policies.
- Maintain financial records, prepare reports and conduct financial analysis for programme budgets.
- Coordinate administrative tasks, HR procedures and stakeholder engagement, including liaising with government authorities.
- Support security awareness and risk analysis, recommending appropriate actions.
Required profile
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Finance, Administration or Logistics.
- Minimum three years of relevant experience in an INGO setting.
- Proven ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressure.
- Fluent in spoken and written Arabic and English.
- Valid passport/visa allowing residence and work in Iraq.
Required skills
- Strong organisational and prioritisation abilities.
- Excellent financial analysis and reporting skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with databases and online systems.
