Crew Chief / Aircraft Mechanic III – T-6A Support

About the role

Amentum is seeking an experienced Crew Chief/Mechanic III to lead aircraft maintenance, management and training for T-6A operations at Martyr BG Ali Flaih (Balad) Air Base, Iraq. The role combines hands‑on technical work with supervision and coordination of flight‑line activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide aircraft maintenance support, management and leadership for T‑6A fleet.
• Deliver on‑the‑job training (OJT) to technicians and supervise jacking, lifting and towing operations.
• Interface with operational customers to develop flight schedules, plan major maintenance events and produce daily/monthly reports.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve complex airframe, engine, flight‑control, pneudraulic, fuel and electrical/electronic system issues.
• Plan and schedule aircraft utilization, coordinate maintenance activities and maintain accurate parts inventory.
• Conduct aircraft and component inspections, interpret findings and ensure corrective actions are documented.
• Perform Quality Verification Inspections (QVI) and other qualified duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum eight (8) years of aircraft maintenance experience on T‑6 Texan or similar fixed‑wing aircraft.
• Demonstrated leadership ability, attention to detail and strong knowledge of FAA regulations and Air Force technical publications.
• Broad understanding of engine operation, flight‑control rigging, electrical/electronic systems, pneudraulics, sheet‑metal work, fuels and oils.
