Construction Manager - Onsite (Local National)

About the role

KBR is looking for a Construction Manager (Local National) to be based in Basra, Iraq, working on a daily commute. The role leads and manages all site construction activities for the WIP-CSSP project, ensuring they are safe, timely and cost-effective, in line with approved engineering deliverables, project specifications, quality requirements and HSE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise civil and structural works, mechanical installation, piping, electrical works, instrumentation and control systems, buildings, infrastructure, utilities and supporting facilities.
• Coordinate construction disciplines and interfaces with engineering, procurement, commissioning, operations, HSE and quality teams, and resolve interface conflicts promptly.
• Manage the EPC contractor and subcontractors, including coordination meetings, schedules, manpower and equipment plans, and monitor their productivity and compliance.
• Monitor construction progress, review weekly and monthly reports, identify risks and implement mitigation plans.
• Coordinate inspections and testing with QA/QC, monitor punch lists and non-conformities, and support mechanical completion, handover and commissioning.
• Lead HSSE activities: site safety audits, management safety walks, incident investigations, risk assessments, permit-to-work compliance and stop-work authority.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of construction management experience on major EPC/EPSCC projects, including at least 5 years as Construction Manager, Site Manager or equivalent.
• Proven experience on large industrial, oil and gas, energy, infrastructure or utility projects; greenfield megaproject experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, civil, electrical, process or equivalent); project or construction management certification is an advantage.
• Proficiency in English is mandatory.
• Previous Middle East and/or remote site experience is highly desirable.
