Communications & IT Specialist - Baghdad, Iraq

About the role

This is an overseas position in Baghdad, Iraq, for a Communications and Information Technology Specialist. The specialist plans, installs, troubleshoots and maintains communications and IT systems for DS/RSO information and communications programs. Training, travel and housing are provided.

Key responsibilities

• Consolidate system and network statistics and reports and submit them to DS/RSO.
• Provide technical assistance to DS/RSO and give unit-level training to contractor personnel.
• Establish workload, work schedules and maintenance priorities.
• Perform preventive maintenance checks and service (PMCS) on assigned equipment, vehicles, generators, COTS computer hardware and software, LANs and WANs.
• Instruct selected personnel in basic computer operation, word processing and e-mail.
• Maintain inventories of all assigned equipment.

Required profile

• At least 21 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
• Proficient reading, writing, speaking and understanding of English.
• Passable medical and physical requirements under the contract, with a clean driving record and valid driver's license.
• Secret security clearance.
• Minimum of two years of maintenance experience in military electronic, computer, communication, communications security or satellite systems, equivalent to MOS 25U (MOS 31U before FY 2005).
• Completion of a pre-employment medical, physical and psychological exam, a drug screen and a paid pre-deployment training course.

Required skills

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification, current and valid.
• Maintenance of military electronic, computer, communication and satellite systems.
