Chief Medical Officer / Medical Director – Emergency/Family Medicine (Iraq)

About the role

We are seeking a senior physician to serve as Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director for U.S. Government medical operations in Iraq. The incumbent will be based at the Diplomatic Support Hospital and will travel between Baghdad and Erbil to provide 24/7 emergency coverage and overall medical oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Provide medical leadership and oversight for the task order and supported sites.
• Deliver primary, urgent, and emergency care, including diagnosis, treatment, and stabilization of patients.
• Coordinate patient transfers and medical evacuations as needed.
• Maintain on‑call availability for emergency care outside normal working hours.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and obtain specialist consultations.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience as a practicing physician.
• Board certification in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine.
• U.S. citizenship with a valid passport; ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
• Willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required by the contract.
