Chief Accountant - SAP Experience

About the role

Laith Al Obaidi Group, a leading automotive and trading company in Iraq, is seeking a Chief Accountant with strong SAP expertise. You will lead the accounting function, ensure compliance with IFRS, and support the group’s financial planning and audit activities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the full accounting cycle, including GL, AP, AR, payroll and fixed assets.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with IFRS.
• Maintain internal controls, coordinate audits and ensure tax compliance.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis for management reporting.
• Supervise cash management, bank reconciliations and treasury activities.
• Lead and develop the accounting team, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
• Drive SAP and accounting system optimisation and recommend process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Professional certification preferred (CPA, CMA, ACCA).
• 7‑10 years of accounting experience, including supervisory roles.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, local tax regulations and accounting standards.
• High attention to detail, integrity and strong analytical abilities.
