Backend Engineer (TypeScript + Rust)

About the role

TORCH is building a next‑generation Business OS that unifies finance, sales, HR, and more into a single platform. As a Backend Engineer you will own the core services that power both the desktop application and the cloud micro‑services, shaping architecture and delivering production‑ready code.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Rust core of a cross‑platform Tauri desktop app, including async processing, local SQLite integration, and OS keychain handling.
• Build and evolve a Node.js/Fastify micro‑services monorepo (Nx, pnpm) backed by PostgreSQL and Redis.
• Design APIs, data models, and integration layers that connect the desktop and backend components.
• Own CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Docker to produce signed, multi‑platform releases.
• Implement automated testing, monitoring, and observability for reliable production systems.

Required profile

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience building scalable production systems.
• Strong TypeScript and Node.js/Fastify expertise.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL, ORM tools (Prisma or Drizzle), and REST API design.
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD, and containerised deployments.
• Solid engineering discipline: unit/integration testing and clean code.
• Rust experience or a strong appetite for systems programming.
• Clear communication in Arabic and English, with a collaborative, ownership mindset.
