Aviation Machinist – Maintenance (Erbil, Iraq)

About the role

The Aviation Machinist will fabricate and repair metal parts and components for aviation equipment in Erbil, Iraq. The role involves interpreting work orders, setting up and operating machine tools, and ensuring parts meet precise specifications and technical directives.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret written instructions, specifications and technical directives.
• Plan, lay out and execute work on fabrication orders.
• Use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Set up and operate standard machine tools to shape metal parts to close tolerances.
• Perform shop calculations for dimensions, tooling, feeds and speeds.
• Fit and assemble parts into mechanical equipment.
• Perform other qualified duties as requested.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; U.S. military technical school or specialized training preferred.
• At least four years of recent machinist experience with repair, modification, maintenance and overhaul of equipment.
• U.S. citizenship with a valid passport (2 years, 6 blank pages) and ability to obtain an Iraq visa.
• Eligibility for a Public Trust NAC‑I clearance and ability to meet CENTCOM MOD physical requirements.
• Ability to work in a noisy, dusty shop environment and lift objects up to 50 lb.
• Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment and pass respirator fit testing.
