Adjunct Professor in Engineering

About the role

The American University of Iraq, Baghdad seeks qualified adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate and graduate engineering courses on a part‑time, semester‑based basis.

Key responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in engineering disciplines such as civil, mechanical, electrical, computer, or related fields.
• Develop and deliver lectures, assignments, projects, and exams aligned with the approved curriculum.
• Create an inclusive learning environment that supports student success.
• Maintain office hours and provide academic guidance and support.
• Assess and evaluate student performance fairly and promptly.
• Collaborate with department faculty and administration to enhance program quality.
• Stay current with engineering advancements and integrate them into teaching.
• Adhere to university policies, procedures, and academic standards.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field (Ph.D. preferred).
• Demonstrated expertise in the subject area and a record of effective teaching or professional practice.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching and student learning.
• Experience with innovative, technology‑enhanced teaching methods is a plus.
