Accountant – Full‑time, On‑site in Baghdad

About the role

The Accountant will join ring’s finance team in Baghdad on a full‑time, on‑site basis. This position is responsible for the day‑to‑day accounting operations that keep the agency’s financial data accurate and up‑to‑date.

Key responsibilities

• Record journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
• Prepare, review and post financial statements on a timely basis.
• Reconcile bank statements and account balances.
• Support monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, monitoring invoices and payments.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow monitoring.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to ensure compliance with accounting standards and local regulations.
• Identify process improvements and enhance financial reporting.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in financial accounting, including general ledger management and financial statement preparation.
• Proficiency in account reconciliation, AP and AR processes.
• Experience with accounting software and advanced Excel skills (spreadsheets, pivot tables, basic financial models).
• Knowledge of relevant accounting standards, local tax regulations and compliance requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail, numerical accuracy and organizational abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication and ability to work cross‑functionally.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA, ACCA or equivalent is a plus.
• Prior experience in an agency, media or creative environment is advantageous.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Baghdad and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced setting.
