Senior Mechanical Engineer – MEP Systems

About the role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the review, coordination and supervision of all mechanical building services for construction projects in Basra, ensuring that HVAC, plumbing, firefighting and drainage systems are delivered to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve HVAC, plumbing, firefighting and drainage drawings, ensuring compliance with project specifications, local regulations and standards.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural and other disciplines to resolve design clashes and constructability issues.
• Supervise on‑site installation of mechanical systems, monitor progress, conduct inspections and ensure work follows approved drawings and safety requirements.
• Manage testing, commissioning, flushing, pressure testing and handover of all mechanical services.
• Control quality through QA/QC documentation, snag list preparation and corrective action tracking.
• Prepare technical, progress and site observation reports and maintain records of RFIs, approvals and material submissions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical building services for commercial or residential construction projects.
• Proven experience with HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and drainage systems.
• Experience supervising contractors and coordinating multidisciplinary teams on construction sites.
