Project Officer

About the role

Tearfund is looking for a proactive Project Officer to join its Iraq team in Basra. You will support the design, implementation and monitoring of humanitarian and development projects, ensuring they align with Tearfund’s Country Strategy for Iraq.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with consortium partners, the Programme Quality Director and the Project Manager to design, assess and monitor projects.
• Coordinate project activities, partner engagement, compliance and reporting.
• Manage the full project cycle, including strategic planning, budgeting, capacity development, monitoring and evaluation.
• Engage a wide range of stakeholders, share learning and develop communication or media materials.
• Integrate gender, diversity and violence‑against‑women considerations into programme design.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent experience in development, social sciences or a related humanitarian field.
• Minimum three years of progressively responsible experience in project support, coordination or humanitarian work.
• Demonstrated experience with Prevention of Violence against Women and Girls projects.
• Proven ability to work with international NGOs, consortiums and multicultural teams.
• Fluent written and spoken Arabic and English.
