Cost Accountant

About the role

The Cost Accountant will lead end‑to‑end cost accounting activities for a manufacturing environment in Baghdad. You will ensure compliance with local regulations, provide accurate cost data, and support decision‑making through detailed variance analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full cost accounting cycle, ensuring alignment with local accounting standards.
• Execute monthly ERP processes, generate reports and follow‑up on outstanding items.
• Monitor raw material inventory movements and production cost entries across multiple locations.
• Perform stock reconciliations and analyse consumption variances.
• Prepare and review month‑end journal entries, including accruals, amortisations and allocations.
• Analyse balance‑sheet reconciliations and explain variances.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing required schedules.
• Manage intercompany transactions and corporate cost allocations.
• Control material pricing and produce periodic cost analysis reports.
• Provide insights on monthly cost and expense variances and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in FMCG or manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of production processes and costing structures.
• Experience with financial reporting, reconciliation and audit processes.
• Fluency in English and Arabic; Kurdish or Turkish is an advantage.

Required skills

• Logo ERP (experience with ERP systems preferred).
• SAP (strong advantage).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
