Senior Accountant - Oil & Gas Projects

About the role

KAR OG Alan Sasan DMCC is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join its Finance Department in Erbil. The role sits under the Finance Manager and covers management accounting for several oil and gas projects, working Sunday to Thursday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, full-time.

Key responsibilities

• Lead accounting and financial reporting for multiple oil and gas projects, including general ledger review, account coding, data accuracy and completeness, trial balance, cash and bank accounts, fixed assets, inventories, cost per well, AP and expenses.
• Ensure accuracy of AP, GL, cost accounting, expense recognition, taxes and payroll.
• Draft monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and prepare the annual budget and variance reports.
• Record bank and cash transactions, prepare daily cash/bank balances and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Prepare internal and external financial reports and present key findings to senior management.
• Coordinate with external auditors, government auditors, tax advisors, the Iraqi auditor and accountant, and meet audit, tax and statutory reporting deadlines.
• Close the month-end accounting system and annual trial balances, and support internal and external audits.
• Handle ad hoc requests, report cash flow positions and forecast cash flow needs.
• Review accounting documents, supplier bank accounts and ultimate beneficiaries, and analyze intercompany transactions for proper eliminations and reconciliations.
