GPP Facility Foreman

About the role

The GPP facility foreman supervises and coordinates daily plant operations and field activities to ensure safe and efficient production. The role leads and monitors plant operators, ensures equipment stays within established limits, and keeps the plant running reliably while complying with HSE and environmental requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and monitor plant operators, assign duties and make sure manpower is used effectively during shifts
• Monitor equipment and process parameters, check chemical dosing, equipment performance and consumable availability
• Carry out routine plant inspections, troubleshoot and report equipment abnormalities
• Coordinate equipment preparation, isolation and maintenance according to Permit to Work (PTW) procedures
• Maintain operational records, shift reports and accurate handover information
• Ensure compliance with HSE procedures, environmental requirements and safe working practices
• Supervise emergency response to fires, gas leaks and other incidents, and coach and train operators
• Support start-ups, shutdowns, commissioning and operational modifications, and work with maintenance teams to minimise downtime

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline
• Minimum 6-8 years of experience in oil and gas production or process plant operations, including supervisory experience
• Experience in sour gas production and processing operations
• Ability to work under pressure in challenging industrial environments, including H2S areas

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of pumps, compressors, separators and other process equipment
• Familiarity with gas sweetening, gas dehydration, hot oil heaters, contactors and refrigeration systems
• Knowledge of production processes, equipment maintenance and process safety procedures
• Understanding of PTW, equipment isolation and H2S safety requirements; mechanical and instrumentation knowledge is an advantage
• Leadership, troubleshooting, communication and planning skills
