Wells Supervisor - Production Wells

About the role

Halliburton is recruiting a Wells Supervisor for its Oils Operation in Basra, Iraq, to lead the safe, reliable and efficient operation of producing wells, flowlines and well-pad facilities tied into degassing and central processing facilities. The role directs well-site personnel, keeps wells within approved operating envelopes and well-integrity limits, and coordinates operations, petroleum engineering, wells, maintenance and contractors to deliver production, availability and HSE objectives in sweet- or sour-service environments.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce PTW/ISSOW, isolation, MOC, SIMOPS and emergency-response requirements, maintain H2S controls and test and monitor well barriers, wellhead integrity and safety/shutdown systems.
• Supervise producing wells, wellheads, chokes, flowlines, manifolds, chemical injection, artificial lift, instrumentation and telemetry; direct safe start-up, bean-up, choke changes, shut-in and isolation, and response to abnormal conditions.
• Conduct daily well surveillance of pressures, temperatures, rates, BS&W and GOR, run the routine well-test and sampling programme, and act on anomalies.
• Optimize well production within approved limits with petroleum engineering, production programming and WRFM teams, and coordinate line-ups, rate changes, trips and curtailments with the DS and CPF supervisors and control room.
• Prepare wells for workover, hoist, rigless intervention, stimulation, logging and data gathering, and manage SIMOPS, hand-back and return to production.
• Set priorities with maintenance teams for wellhead, valve, flowline and well-pad maintenance, track defects and integrity threats, and evaluate modifications through MOC.
• Lead well-site operators, technicians and contractors with a constant field presence, coach Iraqi national personnel, and report KPIs on safety, production, uptime, integrity tests and maintenance compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in petroleum, chemical, mechanical or a related engineering discipline; equivalent substantial production-operations experience may be considered.
• Minimum 10 years, preferably 10-15 years, of oil and gas production-operations experience, including at least 3-5 years in a supervisory role; hands-on wells operations experience is mandatory.
• Mandatory experience operating or supervising wells and facilities containing H2S.
• Strong experience with wellheads, Christmas trees, chokes, surface safety systems, well testing, chemical injection and artificial lift, and with well start-up, shut-in, handover, SIMOPS, well-integrity and emergency response.
• Working knowledge of well performance surveillance and analysis (well-test interpretation, decline and nodal analysis) preferred.
• Valid internationally recognized driving licence, good written and spoken English (Arabic advantageous), and ability to work the rotational schedule in Iraq.

Required skills

• Practical PTW/ISSOW and SAP/CMMS experience
• Emergency-response competence and recognized technical/operations qualifications such as OPITO, NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent
• Trade competencies such as CompEx, flange management and small-bore tubing
• Coaching and development experience; competence assessor qualification preferred
