Chief Financial Officer (CFO) - Real Estate & Construction

About the role

A leading real estate and construction company in Baghdad is looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead its financial strategy and operations. The CFO oversees financial planning, budgeting, cash flow management, project financing, risk management and financial reporting, and supports the company's growth and investment objectives. The position reports to the CEO and is open to local and expat candidates with experience on Iraq construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company's financial strategy
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
• Manage cash flow, treasury and banking relationships
• Oversee project financing and investment analysis
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax regulations and corporate governance requirements
• Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and shareholders
• Establish financial controls and risk management frameworks
• Lead and develop the finance and accounting team

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field
• CPA, ACCA, CMA, CFA or MBA preferred
• 12+ years of finance experience, including at least 5 in a senior leadership role
• Strong background in real estate development, construction or infrastructure projects
• Proven experience in project financing, financial planning and treasury management
• Preferred: experience in the Iraqi market or the Middle East, and exposure to large-scale residential, commercial or mixed-use developments
